Safari for Windows - Do we really need another browser?
Summary: Yesterday Apple unveiled a
public beta of the Safari web browser aimed at Windows XP and Windows
Vista users (oh, and Mac OS X 10.4.9 and later). Earlier this year when
Apple had sent me a loaner MacBook Pro I’d had the opportunity to use
Safari and quite honestly I wasn’t all that impressed with it and
quickly installed (and used) Firefox instead. Do Windows users really
need yet another browser for the Windows platform?
The latest Safari version available now is Safari 5.1.5, just released after the Safari 5.1.4 significantly had issues with its users having problems with websites when running the 32-bit version of the browser. One good thing about this latest version is that it runs a few stability fixes for Mac OS X 10.6.8 and Windows and yes, it is possible to install the software for Windows. The latest version is available thru software update but you can also download it directly from the Safari website,
You might want to check the minimum system requirements needed for Safari 5.1.5 before downloading:
• Windows XP SP2, Vista or Windows 7
• 500 Mhz Pentium-class processor
• 256 MB of RAM
• A compatible DirectX9.0 Video Card with 64 MB of video RAM
