• Top 10 iPhone 5 Rumors

There are so many rumors out there in regards to the iPhone 5. Here is a list of my top iPhone 5 rumors. Some may be far fetched some not too far from the truth. I’ll let you decide.

    1. Release Date – Fall 2012

Thank god for the fall release because I heard another rumor that the world is to end in December 2012. Just kidding… But I did see a movie about it… CNET released a quote by a technical analyst about a possible iPhone 5 release date as of “Fall 2012″. Has Apple changed the release dates for the iPhones? Historically it was always in the Spring but since the iPhone 4S was released last Fall there may be no set time frame anymore.

    2. Quad Core Processor

This iPhone 5 rumor comes from our friends at 9to5mac.com; Speed increases are an expected part of Apple’s iOS device hardware upgrades, but what Apple has up their sleeves for speed enhancements is typically up for debate. The first-generation iPad clocked around 1GHz with the single core A4 processor, and —a year later—Apple bumped the iPad’s chip to dual-core-speed with the A5 processor. I believe this one is true without a doubt and we will see this one in the next gen iPads.

    3. A New Design

Boy Genius Report has learned from a “close source,” that the next Apple iPhone will have a back plate made of the same material used in beer cans, and a rubberized bezel or edge. Hmmm, beer cans… Perhaps Boy Genius needs to lay off of the hooch.
The bezel material will marry the glass face to the iPad 2-like back plate and it will cover a “redesigned antenna system that surrounds the device.” This covering will let Apple “build the rear case out of aluminum without having to use a large plastic insert above the antennas as the company does on its iPad 2″ 3G models, according to Geller.

    4. Gorilla Glass

Drop it, smack it, or shoot it with an air rifle, and chances are you won’t break, or even scratch, a piece of Gorilla Glass. Some are saying this will be implemented into the iPhone 5 and perhaps the iPad 3.
Gorilla Glass is an unscratchable, shatterproof material used as a protective window for your mobile phone, PMP, or laptop display.

    5. Thunderbolt

What is Thunderbolt? Thunderbolt (previously called Light Peak) is a new peripheral-connection technology, developed by Intel with collaboration from Apple, that combines data, video, audio, and power in a single connection. So…. What does that mean? Let me put it this way… It’s like USB but on crack…

    6. 3D Display

In 2011 Apple was awarded 676 patent awards by the U.S. Patent Office. One of the first for Apple in 2012 is a technological nugget that would allow the use to control a 3D interface using touch-free motion based gestures.
While motion-based gestures are nothing new, as Microsoft’s Kinect has been using it in their Xbox 360, Apple seems to be exploring something completely different.

    7. Thinner Body

The iPhone 5 may use Qualcomm’s quad mode chip with the capability to run on all 3G and long-term evolution networks. With a thinner body and the Qualcomm chip, the next iPhone may represent more of a change than the 4S model introduced last year as users look to upgrade. Sexy!!!

    8. T-Mobile

Will the iPhone 5 be coming to T-Mobile anytime soon? Keeping my ear to the ground, many say no. However a T-Mobile executive at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show indicates that it may.

    9. Waterproof iPhone 5

The iPhone 5 may be waterproof indicates the latest rumor. HzO, the company that makes “WaterBlock” technology was shown off at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show, has said it is in talks with Apple about using its material in future devices, including the iPhone5.

    10. Different Battery, Longer Lasting

The iPhone 5 may have a never before seen battery type. All the batteries that you see in today’s mobile electronics are rectangular and flat. Apple’s public patent applications show that it’s working on a layered battery, which would allow it to put more stuff inside the iPhone, making it more powerful and perhaps giving it an innovative form factor that can’t be copied by competitors.
